1. WHAT IS THE HOPE FOUNDATION?

The Hope Foundation offers you a way to make a lasting gift for Christ's work through Hope Lutheran Church.

The Hope Foundation enables you to give..

.. what you want to give...

...to the project of your choice...

...now or upon your death.

The Hope Foundation trusts St. Paul's words, "God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)

The Hope Foundation is a tool for ministry of Hope Lutheran Church to receive, manage, and invest money and property given specifically to either the Memorial Fund or the Endowment Fund of the congregation.

2. HOW DO THE FUNDS DIFFER?

The Memorial Fund serves immediate needs of the congregation.  The giver may, but need not, designate the specific use of the gift.   Both the gift principal and accumulated interest in this fund may be spent.

The Endowment Fund serves long-range needs of the congregation by accepting and accumulating perpetual gifts.  Only the interest earned on this fund my be spent for special projects or programs to further the ministry of Hope Lutheran Church.  The Foundation Trustees determine specific use of the earned interest.

3. CAN I SPECIFY TO WHICH FUND MY GIFT GOES?

Yes, you need to do that.  Your choice determines how your gift will be used!

If you wish both your gift and any earned interest to be spent for immediate needs of the congregation, you should designate your gift to the Memorial Fund.

If you wish only the earned interest from your gift to be used for special projects or programs to meet long-term needs at Hope, you should designate your gift to the Endowment Fund.

4. HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT?

You may give to THE HOPE FOUNDATION in any way you like.  Gifts may be given as a memorial to a loved one or in honor of a special event or person in our life.  Gifts may be given from your current income or from your accumulated assets through a variety of instruments.  Gifts may be given whenever you wish to give above and behond your regular offerings for Christ's work through Hope Lutheran Church.

5. IN WHAT WAYS CAN I GIVE?

Current cash giving is only one way to give to THE HOPE FOUNDATION.  Other options allow you to give in creative ways as an expression of your commitment to Christ's work through Hope.  Several possibilites exist.

Real Estate, often the most valuable asset you ever own, may be given either upon your death or while you are still alive.  If during your lifetime you give real estate that has increased in value, you may experience significant tax advantages at the same time you maintain a lifetime income.

Life insurance may be used by giving a policy to THE HOPE FOUNDATION, or by designating THE HOPE FOUNDATION as a beneficiary.  Gifts of premium payments to the congregation to purchase a policy can be a current, tax deductible, charitable gift during your lifetime.

Securities, such as stocks, bonds, retirement plan benefits, and mutual funds, may be given.  Just as with real estate, you may realize significant tax advantages.  You may wish to designate any dividends or interest to THE HOPE FOUNDATION.
