Right now and for the next two years our
synod faces a unique opportunity to help nurture a leader from
our companion synod in India,
Northern Evangelical Lutheran
Church (NELC).
Ms. Sanchita Kisku has been accepted to study
for a master’s degree in
theology at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
She has been identified by
NELC, the United Lutheran Church in
India, and the World Council of Churches for this study. Now
she needs funding.
Our Synod Council has endorsed support of her. Congregations
and individuals can help support Ms. Kisku, the first female
member of the Santal ethnic group in the
NELC to receive
theological training. The need is apparent since the average
income in that part of India is less than $500 per capita
annually.
Nurture of leaders is an important ministry of this synod. I
thank God for the movement of the Spirit among us, and for the
opportunity to partner with
NELC in developing a promising
leader! I thank you for your part in identifying, nurturing,
encouraging and supporting leaders!
